Grant monitoring often begins with a long list of portals, newsletters and search results. The difficult part is not finding a programme name. It is deciding whether a specific current call is real, open, relevant and worth investigating.
A reliable workflow separates discovery from verification, a programme page from a current call, topical relevance from formal eligibility, historical awards from current opportunities, and AI interpretation from official wording.

Use search engines, programme newsletters, national contact points, databases and professional networks to find leads. At this stage, a result is only a lead. Record the programme or funder, likely topic, geography, discovery URL, discovery date and why it may matter. Do not label a lead open because a programme exists or a previous edition was open.
Replace the discovery result with the most specific official source available: official call ID, topic ID, current competition page, call fiche or applicant guidance. A generic programme homepage is insufficient evidence for a current deadline, budget or eligibility claim.

If a field cannot be verified, preserve it as unknown. Do not fill the gap from an older bulletin, search snippet or assumption.
Relevance is not eligibility. Ask separately: Does the topic fit? Is the organisation type accepted? Is the host country accepted? Is the applicant role accepted? Is funding available under the current rules? Are consortium conditions satisfied? Can the team meet the deadline and documentation requirements?
